Pavers: driveway and patio
Pavers in Jacksonville, FL — installation & sealing
Cleaning, re-sanding and sealing, sunken pavers lifted and relaid, and new Belgard, Tremron and travertine driveways and patios in Jacksonville — with the drainage built in.
Pavers in Jacksonville, FL take a beating from the sun, the afternoon storms and the oak roots. We are a drainage crew that also lays and restores pavers — concrete pavers from Belgard and Tremron, and travertine, for driveways, patios and pool decks — plus paver sealing in Jacksonville, St. Johns and Clay. That makes us the paver company to call when the driveway also has a water problem: the slope and the channel drain are designed in, not added later.
Florida sun fades pavers gray, rain washes the sand out of the joints, and weeds and ants move in. Cleaning, re-sanding with polymeric sand and sealing restores the color, locks the joints and keeps the surface easier to wash. Done every two to three years, it keeps a paver driveway looking new.
A paver driveway or patio is a drainage project with a nice surface on top: the base, the slope and the edges decide whether water leaves or sits. We build on a compacted base with edge restraint, slope away from the house, and set a channel drain across the apron where the driveway needs one.

FAQ
Should you seal pavers in Florida?
In most cases yes. Florida sun fades pavers gray, rain washes the sand out of the joints, and weeds and ants move in. Cleaning, re-sanding with polymeric sand and sealing brings the color back and locks the joints.
How often to seal pavers in Florida?
Every two to three years. We put the next date on the invoice and call when it comes up.
How much does it cost to seal pavers in Florida?
In our area cleaning, re-sanding and sealing runs $1.25 to $3.50 per square foot; a 600 sq ft driveway is about $900 to $2,000, and driveways start from $899.
Paver sealer vs polymeric sand: what is the difference?
Polymeric sand fills and locks the joints; sealer protects the face of the paver and its color. They do different jobs, which is why a proper visit is clean, re-sand, then seal.
How long until I can drive on it?
Usually 24 to 48 hours after sealing, depending on the product and weather.
Wet look or natural?
Either — we show you a sample on your pavers first.
How much does a driveway with pavers cost?
In our area pavers run $12 to $25 per square foot installed; a 600 to 1,000 sq ft driveway is about $8,000 to $20,000, and a patio $4,000 to $10,000. The written price comes after a free inspection.
Why are my pavers sinking?
Usually the base: it was not compacted, sand washed out of the joints, or water stands on that section after every storm. Oak roots push sections up instead. We lift the pavers, fix the base and relay them — and fix the water that caused it.
Do you need a permit for patio pavers?
The permit we deal with most is for work in the city right-of-way, such as the driveway apron at the street. We tell you on the inspection whether anything on your job needs one.
